I have references to figures and tables completely working, but references to sections don't work. I need to have hyperlinks active (References to sections, figures, etc.) I use Export - Create a PDF/XPS Document and Optimized for Standard. On the backstage screen, select “Save As” from the list on the left. Open the document you want to convert, and then click the “File” tab. If you have the desktop version of Microsoft Word, the easiest way to convert your document to PDF is right in Word itself. This plugin is available in Ms Office 2010. A common and an easy method to convert Microsoft Word doc to PDF with hyperlinks is to use a built-in option available in Microsoft Word as “Save as PDF“. Sometimes, doing it properly retaining hyperlinks is a bit tricky. Converting Word to PDF with hyperlinks is not a Rocket Science these days.
